Greatly inspired by authentic visionary artist's like Daniel Johnston and Wesley Willis; Vonson embodies their sensibilities along with the influence of contemporary artists like Beirut, The Postal Service, Phil Collins, and Modest Mouse.

Emerging into the music world from the visual art world comes the new melodramatic indie pop sensation of Vonson, the sonic expression of Brooklyn-based visual artist “Hydeon” (AKA Ian Ferguson). An outsider artist who is internationally represented in New York and Paris (Ricco/Maresca Gallery - NYC / Bim Bam Gallery - Paris)

Hydeon has exhibited works at the world renown Outsider Art Fair in New York as well as acclaimed art fairs NADA, Independent Art Fair, and SCOPE Miami. He has had notable solo shows in Berlin, Paris, Brescia, Italy, NYC, Curitiba, Brazil, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

As an adult living and working with the pendulum extremes of Bi-Polar disorder, the music of Vonson largely becomes a form of vibration therapy for the artist. Similar to his visual work as Hydeon, his music as Vonson is also created from a natural need to output expressions not by choice, but because the artist has to.

Vonson creates his music by using an old RadioShack keyboard in combination with an old Hammer electric guitar, both found on the street in Brooklyn. His voice his found by using a children’s autotune device by PaperJams given to him by fellow artist Ray Borchers of Aitis Band in Chicago.

Feeling significantly compelled by the combination of the acquired musical equipment and the use of GarageBand to record at home, Vonson finds his sound.

I started Record Label in 1999 as a way to release my own music. Soon I was releasing records by friends Chin Up Chin Up and Joan of Arc, and was distributed by Touch & Go for about a week before they went out of business. Shortly after I put Record Label on hiatus.

In 2021 'record label' has partnered up with Joyful Noise Recordings and Secretly Canadian Distribution.
